FOXBORO — Bill Belichick has outlasted one other teaching legend.
The Patriots head coach was requested Friday morning about his relationship with former Red Sox supervisor Terry Francona, who’s retiring after 11 seasons with the Guardians.
Belichick and Francona obtained to know one another when Francona was managing the Red Sox to 2 World Series championships from 2004 to 2011.
“Yeah, I had a great relationship with Tito, loved having him here,” Belichick mentioned. “I had a good relationship with all of the Boston coaches, really. But yeah, he was great, very supportive, and I was down there in training camp with him, spent a decent amount of time with him.”
Belichick was requested if he “kept track of” Francona after he left the Red Sox following the 2011 season.
“Yeah, a little bit,” Belichick mentioned. “You know, it’s hard, still got a lot of loyalties here, too. But, I love him. He’s great.”
